James M. MacKay
Jim MacKay is the managing partner of the Berkeley Consulting Group, and the director of strategy field studies program at the Schulich School of Business (York University). Formed in 1985, the Berkeley Consulting Group, with its network of associates, provides top management leadership advice, strategic planning, amalgamation, organization effectiveness, and governance reviews to private, public and not-for-profit sector clients. MacKay has personally provided leadership advice to global top managers in the news and financial services business.
For 30 years, and especially in the last decade, MacKay has been a voice in board governance, co-authoring a number of governance manuals for non-profits, colleges and public hospitals; conducting over 50 governance seminars across the province; and advising and educating on recent changes to school board governance legislation. His firm has completed numerous projects across the college system with respect to access to colleges and to professions and trades.
With the Schulich School of Business since 1985, MacKay now leads the core second year strategy field study course taken by 500 MBAs annually. MacKay received his BA from the University of Toronto, his MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, and he is a certified management consultant.
